Formalized at the Google I/O conference, the mid-range smartphone Pixel 6a is now available for pre-order. It is offered on the store.google.com site at a price of €459 in three different colors with a free pair of headphones. Here are all the details.
Like every year at the same time, Google organized its Google I/O event to announce various developments and advances in his work. As expected, the firm was able to officially present its new mid-range smartphone, the Pixel 6a which joins the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro already available for a few months now. The Pixel 6a’s design doesn’t differ much from the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. It offers a back that we find quite divisive since it divides the back into two parts with two distinct colors and a wide band occupying the entire width of the device and containing the photo sensors.
The Pixel 6a is available in three colors: “sage” green, “pebble” light gray or “charcoal” dark gray. It has dimensions of 152.2×71.8 mm for a thickness of 8.9 mm which is not very thin but ultimately as thick as the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Count on a weight of 178 grams on the scale against 207 and 210 grams respectively for the other two Google mobiles.
What technical characteristics for the Google Pixel 6a?
The Google Pixel 6a smartphone relies on a OLED screen that measures 6.1 inches diagonally with a refresh rate of 60 Hz while the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro offer, 90 and 120 Hz respectively which allows them to offer smoother scrolling. The definition of the display surface is 1080×2400 pixels and we benefit from protection Corning Gorilla Glass 3. There is a fingerprint reader under the screen to unlock the device. The mobile has a battery with a 4400 mAh capacity supports charging at 18 watts which is not much and does not allow very fast loading. Several models, even entry-level, now offer charging powers of 33 or even 65 watts. There is no question of wireless or reverse charging here, a feature that remains mainly reserved for higher-end models even if the new Nothing phone (1) which is positioned as a mid-range offers this feature. To work, the Pixel 6a has the same chipset as the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, a Tensor developed by Google and manufactured by Samsung. It also benefits from an integrated security chip, Titan M2 to secure user data in a hardware way, as at Samsung and more recently Honor (on certain models only). The processor is associated with 6 GB of RAM and we can count on a storage space of 128 GB to the UFS 3.1 standard unfortunately not expandable. To have more, it is then necessary to use the online storage services offered by Google or other providers.
Very wide connectivity and two photosensors on the back
In terms of connectivity, the Pixel 6a is 5G compatible with support for eSIM technology and offers Wi-Fi 6E as well as Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC. It offers stereo sound from its two speakers. Finally, for the photo part, the Pixel 6a is equipped with a 12.2 megapixel main sensor capable of handling wide-angle shots opening at f / 1.7 against a 50 megapixel module for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The second sensor is a 12-megapixel module for 114-degree ultra-wide-angle shots opening at f/2.2. There is both optical and digital stabilization which helps to limit shake. For selfies, the Pixel 6a has an 8-megapixel front sensor. Several functions are available such as Magic eraser, Real Tone, Anti-blur, Panorama and many other shooting modes and possibility of image optimization. The smartphone is capable of filming with Ultra HD definition at 60 frames per second. It is powered by Android 12 with the promise of 5 years of updates and receiving them before any other smartphones on the market. The device comes with a USB-c to USB-C cable, a SIM card tray puller and a USB-A to USB-C adapter but without a power supply like Samsung or Apple.
the Google Pixel 6a smartphone is available for pre-order with a pair of Google Pixel Buds A-Series wireless headphones (worth €99) at a price of €459.
