Elon Musk promises a demonstration of Steam built into Tesla cars as early as next month. Enough to show the technological superiority of its platform.

In mid-July 2022, Elon Musk tweeted that Tesla was getting closer to releasing its Steam integration. For many months and following the announcement of the new Tesla Model S and Model X, the idea of playing AAA video games inside your electric car has become something to consider. Elon Musk had even highlighted several times the fact that his flagships would allow Cyberpunk 2077 to be played, in particular thanks to the famous AMD Ryzen chip.

Since then, it has been dead calm on this subject, or almost: indeed, Tesla has passed the European Model 3 and Model Y, and therefore intended for the French market, on the famous super-powerful processor. Which gives them, in theory, the same computing power as the latest Model S and Model X.

Steam will be integrated into the Tesla

This time around, Elon Musk is promising a demo next month, which is August 2022. The demo will likely involve computing-intensive video games to show what the gaming capability inside Tesla vehicles looks like.

We’re making progress with Steam integration. Demo probably next month.

Until now, the American automaker has built a video game platform called Tesla Arcade inside its vehicles, and it has worked with video game studios to transfer games there. It’s still pretty light games, so far. This time, Elon Musk firmly promises Steam integration. Given that Tesla’s Infotainment OS runs on Linux, one can imagine an experience not far from the Steam Deck. This makes sense, as the two machines also share an AMD Ryzen CPU.
