Strasbourg offers a prestigious success at Anfield against a Liverpool bis

It was certainly not against Liverpool winner of the Community Shield on Saturday, but Strasbourg can still boast of having beaten the Reds in their lair of Anfield. This Sunday evening, the Alsatians offered themselves a prestigious success against the vice-champions of England (3-0), acquired in the first half thanks to a double from Adrien Thomasson (4th, 21st) and a goal from ‘Habib Diallo.

For this last friendly match of the summer, Julien Stéphan was able to give playing time to Ronaël Pierre-Gabriel, on loan from Mainz and returned in 62nd in place of Le Marchand. It’s a reassuring victory for the Strasbourgeois, beaten by Cagliari on Wednesday (1-2) and hooked by Brentford (2-2) then Friborg (3-3) previously.

Sixth in Ligue 1 last season, the Alsatians will start the 2022-2023 financial year by hosting Monaco on Saturday (5 p.m.).
