To reach this conclusion, the scientists analyzed the cerebrospinal fluid of 332 participants and found that those who slept less than 7 hours had increased levels of t-tau protein, a key biomarker for measuring Alzheimer’s risk. . For researcher Laura Stankeviciute of the Fundación Pasqual Maragall, in Barcelona, this new study therefore reinforces the hypothesis that sleep disturbances could represent a risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease. She calls for “further research” on ways to improve sleep to halt this process.

In the past, research had already highlighted the devastating consequences of a bad night on health.
