According to the last health update carried out this Thursday, June 9 by Public Health France, 91 cases of contamination with “Monkeypox” have been identified in France. 85 of them were “under investigation”. It is in Île-de-France that the cases are the most numerous: according to the health authorities, 64 cases have been identified in Ile-de-France territory. Occitania is the second most affected region in the country with 10 recorded infections. Next come Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (8 cases), Normandy (2 cases), New Aquitaine (2), Hauts-de-France (2), Centre-Val de Loire (1) and PACA region (1).
“All the cases investigated are men, aged between 20 and 63 (median age: 35), specifies Public Health France. To date, as in other European countries, these cases have occurred mainly, but not exclusively , among men who have sex with men (MSM), with no direct link to people returning from endemic areas. For the time being, in France, none of the people who contracted the disease have died and “two have been hospitalized but are no longer so to this day”.
Still according to the authorities, of the 91 cases that were discovered in France, “39 people traveled abroad before the onset of their symptoms, some of them in several different countries: 18 trips are thus reported in Spain, 6 in Belgium , 5 in Germany, 1 in Portugal, 1 in the United Kingdom, 1 in the Netherlands, 1 in Morocco, 1 in India, 2 in Switzerland, 1 in the United States, 2 in Mali and 1 in Colombia.”
