How Cardano (ADA) wants to steal the show from Ethereum in September

Everything is ready ! The Merge of Ethereum (ETH) is not the only major event to which the cryptosphere will be entitled during this month of September. Cardano (ADA) is also preparing to (finally) launch a major network update.

Cardano evolves on an Independence Day

So it will be for this month! Vasil, which is “Cardano’s most significant upgrade to date,” will be deployed on September 22 on the mainnet, according to a tweet last September 2 from Input Output Global (IOG).

In a live from September 2, Charles Hoskinson underlined the fact that “this date coincidentally falls on Bulgaria’s independence day”.

This coincidence in the calendar is “amazing”, considering that the upcoming hard fork is named after Vasil St. Dabov, a Bulgarian mathematician who was an ambassador for Cardano, before his death in December last year.

This update should increase network capacity, and reduce transaction costs. Additionally, it will bring enhancements to Plutus, Cardano’s smart contract platform, to enable developers to build “more powerful and efficient” decentralized applications on the network.

Deployment of Vasil on the mainnet: from one date to another

The third could therefore be the right one. The Vasil hard fork on the testnet was originally scheduled for June 20 of this year, but IOG then preferred to postpone the update citing seven technical bugs. This postponement has led to deployment delays of the upgrade on the mainnet, which was then supposed to take place a few days later, on June 29.

The testnet finally welcomed Vasil on July 3, but no mainnet rollout date was set. In a live of August 15, Charles Hoskinson announced an arrival of Vasil before the end of August, but this delay was therefore once again, point respected.

This update for September would have finally been decided, after the thorough tests of the basic components were crowned with success, and the community confirmed its readiness for the hard fork.

With the upcoming deployment of Vasil, the cryptosphere may take Cardano a little more seriously, which for the moment, would be knocked out by dogecoin (DOGE).
