In 2025, the French start-up plans to build a hydrogen sedan in series.
Will Hopium manage to overtake Tesla?

As early as 2021, Hopium had presented a prototype of its fuel cell sedan, announced for 2025. The Machina Vision is the first concept car which, in addition to new details in the exterior design, offers a concrete glimpse of the passenger compartment. This concept will be previewed at the Paris Motor Show, which will be held from October 17 to 23.

Aerodynamic outer shell

The four-door sedan with coupé-like roofline is characterized by a particularly smooth and therefore very aerodynamic outer shell. Enough with large exterior mirrors! The latter have been replaced by small extensions intended to accommodate the digital mirrors. We have also dispensed with mechanical door handles. Up front, the wave-effect LED headlights stand out. In addition, it is equipped with a variable calender which, if necessary, brings the fuel cell system to the right temperature.

In the passenger compartment, the Hopium has a screen crossing the entire dashboard, the display size of which is variable. To reduce the size of the visible screen, it is partially recessed into the dashboard. The start-up also promises generous rear space with a panoramic glass roof as well as high-end materials.

The French had already revealed first details on the propulsion in 2021. According to this information, the vehicle will be equipped with an electric motor of more than 368 kW (500 hp) allowing it to reach a top speed of 230 km / h. According to its own statements, Hopium intends to become “the Tesla of hydrogen cars”. The hydrogen reserve in the tanks housed under the floor ensures a range of more than 1,000 kilometres. In 2025, Hopium plans to move to industrial production. The price of the sedan should be around 120,000 euros.
