A Canadian motorist’s Tesla Model S has been stuck due to a battery problem: Tesla is demanding an incredible amount of money to make the repairs.
This is not the first time that a Tesla brand model has been hit by a battery problem, an essential component for the proper functioning of electric vehicles. The American manufacturer indeed accumulates complaints from its customers, and does not seem to want to find a solution to these problems.
This time, it was a Canadian motorist who paid the price for these malfunctions: while his Tesla Model S, purchased in 2013 for more than 140,000 Canadian dollars (about 105,500 euros), refused to open, the brand claims no less than 26,000 dollars to replace the battery!
Tesla battery: an air conditioning problem?
Indeed, Mario Zelaya posted a video on TikTok to explain the situation, and it has since been viewed more than 11 million times. According to the owner of this Model S, his Tesla is “completely dead”.
It seems that this battery problem is related to a air conditioning condenser leak : the liquid flows on the battery, which causes it to malfunction. This problem is known to the brand, and has already been reported by several other drivers, but Tesla does not seem to find a solution for it. The 2013 and 2014 models would be affected.

Tesla battery: an exorbitant cost
According to Zelaya, he is unable to gain access to the car again, and it remains locked despite his many attempts. To solve this battery problem, Tesla asks him no less than $26,000 (approximately 19,600 euros), an amount corresponding to battery replacement.
The American manufacturer refuses to pay for repairsbecause the problem would have occurred after the end of the warranty, but according to the owner of the car, the problems started during the warranty period.

Tesla battery: no solution found
Mario Zelaya refuses to pay for the repairs, and wants to get rid of his car. As it is locked and he cannot access his papers left inside, he simply asked the local authorities to renew them.
He now wants to sell his Model S for 20,000 dollars, the equivalent of around 15,000 euros. If the new owner manages to solve this battery problem, even by paying the amount of repairs demanded by Tesla, it could be a good deal for him… Zelaya, meanwhile, has declared that he will never buy a You’re here : “stay away from Teslas: they are horrible cars, with horrible build quality”he said on a video on the famous Chinese social network.
@supermariozelaya Replying to @NoMoreBoobSweat I couldn’t agree more. People need to wake up. I got contacted by someone suing Tesla for an almost identical problem to mine. I’m going to see if I can help them in their court case. Looking back, I would have had an extra $3mm if I bought the stock instead of the car. 😂 #tesla #car ♬ original sound – Mario Zelaya
