Google’s work to improve the GCam continues with the release of Google Camera 8.6. The latest GCam app update comes a month after Google Camera 8.5. Latest version of Google Camera brings UI changes to the app, speech enhancement, and more. The app’s code hints at support for the Foldable Pixel and Selfie Hotspot tricks. With the Google Camera 8.6 update, Google extends Material You dynamic color support to various buttons (Panorama, Photo Sphere, and Lens) available in the modes section of the app. Along with the hardware you are supporting, there is a dock in the background for better visibility and the button placement has also changed and looks more stable now.
The next feature available in the new version of GCam is speech enhancement. This is not a new feature, it was available since launch but only works with front camera video recording. Now you can also use the speech enhancement feature with the rear camera to reduce unwanted noise such as “wind, traffic and crowds”. You can record videos in FHD (1080p) resolution at 30 fps with speech enhancement enabled. Along with these features, you can expect overall app improvements.
According to 9to5Google, Google is working on a new Pixel foldable mode, Hotspot selfie tips, two new modes (Amber and Amethyst) and Pixel 7-centric features. number of foldable pixels so far, thanks to the inclusion of a new mode codenamed ‘Jupiter’. At the time of writing, the new update is available for Pixel users running the Android 13 operating system. If you have a Pixel smartphone, you can update the Google Camera app from the Play Store or download it from third-party websites like APKMirror. You can upgrade to Google Camera 8.5 if you are using the older version.
