There’s a new warning for Android users today with Google banning another EIGHT app from its Play Store. The latest threat, which was discovered by security expert Maxime Ingraoused applications such as Gif keyboards, video editing and camera filters to spread the nasty Autolycos malware.
This stealthy software has the ability to infect devices with hackers and then take over, enroll users in expensive subscription plans, and even read personal text messages. It looks like some of these apps have been around for a while with a tweet from Ingrao saying, “Found a new malware family that subscribes to premium services. 8 apps since June 2021, 2 apps still in the Play Store, +3M installs. »
As soon as Google learned of the new threat, it removed all offending apps from its store, but not before millions of people had already downloaded them.

In fact, two of the offending apps both received one million installs each before being blocked. If you’re concerned about this latest news, we’ve listed the full names of malware-packed apps below.

This infamous malware is capable of signing up Android users to expensive subscription services without their knowledge, which can leave them hundreds of pounds out of pocket.
The apps that Android users should avoid are Smart SMS Messages, Blood Pressure Monitor, Voice Language Translator, and Quick Text SMS.
If you downloaded any of the apps mentioned above, here’s how to remove them from your device… Open the Google Play Store app • At the top right, tap the profile icon • Tap Manage apps and apps devices > Manage • Tap the name of the app you want to remove • Tap Uninstall
