Google: automatic connection between devices arrives on the Pixel Buds Pro

Unveiled during the last edition of Google I/O last May, the automatic connection function is coming to Android. The search engine announced that its AirPods Pro Pixel Buds Pro, which will be available at the very end of the month, will be compatible. The technology will also appear on some of Sony’s and JBL’s audio products in the coming weeks.

As on iOS, this automatic connection allows audio to be automatically switched between devices when the need arises. Google gives the example of a user watching a movie on his tablet, and who receives a phone call on his smartphone: by touching the notification of the incoming call, the headphones connect to the phone. No more fiddling around with Android settings.

This feature is built on the simplified Fast Pair pairing system. Google also announces that it will be possible to connect up to two pairs of Bluetooth headphones or headsets on the same device. And during its developer conference, the group also promised support for dynamic head tracking for compatible headphones. Functions that have entered the daily lives of millions of AirPods users.
