Last year, Tesla communicated about a new humanoid robot called Optimus. It should be presented in a month. In the meantime, Elon Musk has given new information about this machine.
A new statement from Elon Musk
Presented for the first time in August 2021, the Tesla Bot was already full of promise. At the time, Elon Musk evoked a humanoid robot capable of moving at 8 km / h and whose size should reach 1.76 m. The objective of this machine is to integrate the labor market with the aim of replacing the human for the most repetitive and dangerous tasks. Elon Musk, it is about a future where physical effort will no longer be an obligation, but a choice.
In a tweet of June 3, 2021, Elon Musk again mentioned this machine since renamed Tesla Optimus. Even more recently, the general manager of Tesla gave new elements in the monthly China Cyberspace, the magazine of the Cyberspace Administration of China, that is to say the Chinese agency for control and regulation of the Internet.
“The Tesla Bot is close in size and weight to an adult, it can carry or pick up heavy objects, walk quickly with small steps, and the screen on its face is interactive for communicating with others. […] If we want a robot to adapt to its environment and be able to do what humans do, it needs to be roughly the same size, shape and capabilities as a human.”he said.

A prototype soon presented
The Tesla Bot (or Optimus) will therefore have two legs, two arms and ten fingers on each hand and will carry artificial intelligence. According to Elon Musk, a first presentation to the general public is scheduled to take place on September 30, 2022 during AI Day. This date had also been postponed in order to allow the presentation of a functional prototype. Elon Musk also explained that after this presentation, efforts will be made both to improve artificial intelligence of this robot while setting up the foundations for mass production. Eventually (more precisely in a decade), this type of domestic robot could cost less than an automobile. There is still a long way to go, but the foundations have already been laid.
In any case, on the strength of its experience in the design of autonomous cars, Tesla is gradually establishing itself as largest robotics company in the world. Remember that this company deals with the software foundations of automation including artificial intelligence, neural networks and other differential engines, but also at the hardware level such as sensors and other actuators.
