Buying a Tesla in Bitcoin is possible, announces Elon Musk, cryptocurrency takes off

Tesla accepts Bitcoin as a means of payment! At least that is now possible in the United States. “Now you can buy a Tesla with Bitcoins,” Elon Musk tweeted. “Bitcoins paid to Tesla will be kept as Bitcoins, and not converted into fiat currency,” added the CEO of the electric vehicle manufacturer. “The ability to pay in bitcoin will be available outside the United States later this year,” he said. In early February, Tesla caused a stir by indicating that it had invested $1.5 billion in Bitcoin.

The manufacturer then added that it planned to accept this cryptocurrency as a means of payment in the near future, “subject to applicable laws”. While Elon Musk temporarily changed his Twitter mini-description to simply #bitcoin in early February, the cryptocurrency queen hit an all-time high of $43,000 a few days later, shortly after Tesla’s big investment. Today, Elon Musk’s announcement pushes the price of Bitcoin up, currently 4%.
