Anthony Hopkins opts for an Ethereum address as a name on Twitter
The two-time Oscar winner didn’t stop there. He also changed his Twitter name to a wallet address on the Ethereum blockchain. Hopkins relied on Ethereum Name Service, a service developed on the Ethereum blockchain that allows you to buy domain names in . eth. This domain name refers to an address on the blockchain.
It’s a shortened, easy-to-read version of an address like 0x5b4b7f43140e79a4452408ce10dd64fd17d8a2e5. Entirely decentralized, the service aims to become the DNS (Domain Name Service) of Internet 3.0 by providing a single domain name to all Internet users. On Twitter, the Welsh comedian is now called AHopkins.eth. Several personalities have done the same thing in recent months.
