After OL, AS Monaco, PSG and OGC Nice, it’s time to resume for LOSC! Author of a very disappointing last season, punctuated by a very sad tenth place in the standings, the 2020-2021 French champion welcomes the promoted from Auxerre to his den of the Decathlon Arena Pierre Mauroy stadium for this 1st day of the championship. Paulo Fonseca, new coach of the Mastiffs landed in the North this summer, will try to heal his first outing with his new workforce and start this 2022-2023 exercise on a good note. Finally, Jean-Marc Furlan’s men, far from being favorites in this part, will try to thwart the predictions for their return to the top flight, ten years after leaving it. A meeting that will be followed live live commented on the Foot Mercato site from 3 p.m.
For this highly anticipated first outing of the season, Paulo Fonseca has decided to rely on the same framework as his predecessor last season, Jocelyn Gourvennec. The Portuguese coach has indeed decided to establish a 4-4-2 with an attack occupied by newcomer Mohamed Bayo and Jonathan David. Also transferred this summer, Rémi Cabella made his big debut on the right of the attacking sector while Jonathan Bamba started on the left. The indestructible Benjamin André is also present in the middle in front of a hinge composed of captain Fonte and Alexsandro Ribeiro. On the AJA side, Jean Marc Furlan relies on the same strong men from last season since only Arcus left the ship during the transfer window. The Ajaist coach, however, swapped his usual 4-1-4-1 for a 4-2-3-1 articulated around a Touré-M’Changama duo in midfield. Finally, Gaëtan Charbonnier is at the forefront of the attack while Benoît Costil makes his big debut with his new formation.
